Plus: With 40th SB, Acuña makes more history
Eight years ago, Andrew McCutchen celebrated a win in San Diego by handing his batting gloves to a 13-year-old Pirates fan and fist-bumping his 9-year-old brother. The clip of Christopher McCreary yelling, "I love you, man!" with tears in his eyes went viral.
Yesterday at Dodger Stadium, McCutchen met with the McCreary family -- parents Roger and Stephanie and the two boys, now young men -- during batting practice, signing baseballs for them and even autographing the yellow Willie Stargell jersey that Christopher wore back in 2015.
"So many emotions were going through my head," Christopher said. "I love the Pirates, so I was happy that we won. To top it off, I see Andrew McCutchen running up to us. He gave us the gloves. I'm the one that says, 'I love you, man,' in the yellow jersey. I was very, very emotional. It was a great moment. I loved it and I'll never forget it." | |
